Brass Websites

www.4barsrest.com
The web's first (and so far the only) internet brass band magazine. Features brass band related articles, news, reviews and opinions about the UK band scene. Also does 'live' reports from major contests delivering a detailed (and sometimes controversial) running commentary on the bands' performances. An excellent site run by a dedicated and very well informed team of bandsmen. Apart from the novelty of being a web-only magazine, 4barsrest.com is finding a more serious role for itself. It's proving to have a new and refreshing style of reporting which the established band press does not provide, and as such it has a great opportunity to win a lot of friends.

The Internet Bandsman's "Everything Within"
This is simply the most comprehensive collection of brass band related websites on the internet. If you're wondering if 'such and such' a band has a website, look no further than here. Exhaustive and massive, this site is THE reference point for anyone wishing information about bands and band related websites.

www.brassbandworld.com
Website of the Brass Band World magazine, the monthly publication for UK brass band news and views. The site has a few pages including a news section, but is serves mainly as an advert and appetizer for the magazine rather than a fully fledged internet magazine like 4barsrest.

www.britishbandsman.com
Website of the British Bandsman, the weekly publication for UK brass band news and views. Like the Brass Band World site this also serves mainly as an advert and appetizer for the magazine rather than a fully fledged internet magazine like 4barsrest.

www.innertuba.org.uk
The website of fellow Tuba player and a good friend of mine, John Hodkin. As the logo suggests, John combines his two great passions, cycling and Tuba playing, by giving Tuba recitals in venues such as day centres, schools, the open air, having first travelled there on his bike with his Tuba pulled behind him on a custom made trailer. He is both an excellent Tuba player and an excellent cyclist. His unique act called Inner Tuba (geddit) first materialised when he toured England as part of the Arts Council of England's Year of the Artist in 2000. Occasionally, this meant John having to endure a very long and hard cycle trip in appalling weather followed immediately by him having to give a Tuba recital to a waiting audience - The Show must go on! Actually, you may have seen John on telly in 2000. Future Inner Tuba tours are being planned to New Zealand and Canada. Visit his site, look around and leave him a message.
